Summary
This Friday, the Alleviate Pain Data Hub are hosting an Advanced Pain Discovery Platform (APDP) community event in the picturesque location of the University of Dundee Botanic Gardens. These popular gardens overlook the River Tay and cover an area of 9.5 hectares.
This community will bring together researchers in the field of chronic pain from across the UK to workshop the future of pain research and how the Alleviate Pain Data Hub can help. PPIE representatives will also be in attendance so that the voice of those who live with Chronic Pain is heard.
Making different types of pain data easy to find, use and share is essential for future progress in pain research
One of the main aims of the event is to discuss the different types of data that are used in Pain research and how to make this data more Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR). FAIR data is data that is easy to find, use, and share, and it is essential for making progress in pain research.
Our second aim is to discuss the types of questions the Alleviate Pain Data Hub can help Pain researchers answer using the data and data types discussed. This information will allow the Alleviate Pain Data Hub to prioritise and plan out the next 14 months of the project to ensure we delivery for the APDP community and Chronic Pain researchers.
The Alleviate Pain Data Hub is a £2M collaborative project funded by a consortium of funders including Versus Arthritis and the UK Medical Research Council. The project is led by the University of Dundee and involves partners from across the UK. Alleviate is one of nine HDR UK Health Data Research Hubs.The goal of the project is to create a national data hub for pain research. The data hub will make it easier for researchers to access and share data, which will accelerate progress in pain research.
