Summary
Alleviate onboards Oxford Carpal Tunnel Syndrome data!
Alleviate Pain Data Hub has recently completed the mapping of the Oxford Carpal Tunnel Syndrome data set to the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model (CDM). This data model has been adopted by the NHS SDE Network and is therefore the standard of choice within the UK.
Science is currently experiencing a flood of data, but unfortunately only very little of that data is accessible and reusable. Alleviate and its team are really leading the way in reducing such data waste!
Professor Annina Schmid
Annina Schmid’s CTS data set is now available on HDRUK’s Cohort Discovery Tool (CDT) for running row level discovery queries. Only Bona fide researchers can gain access to the CDT to explore this data without accessing personally Identifiable Information (PII). The data set can also be found on HDRUK’s Metadata catalogue here where you can find extended information on the data and can request access.
The Oxford Carpal Tunnel Syndrome data set is a cohort study in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. It contains both cross sectional (pre-surgery) as well as longitudinal data from patients undergoing decompression surgery (pre and 6 months post-surgery). The dataset is deeply phenotyped including patient reported outcome measures for pain, disability and emotional wellbeing as well as electrophysiological and skin biopsy data.
By having this data set onboarded to Alleviate Pain Data Hub we have standardised the data and boosted its visibility within the UK by following findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability (FAIR) standards.
UK Medical Research Council. The project is led by the University of Dundee and involves partners from across the UK. Alleviate is one of nine HDR UK Health Data Research Hubs.
